What Is Covered Deck / Deck Roof Installation?
Covered deck and deck roof installation adds a permanent roof structure over an existing or new deck, extending how much of the year the space is usable and protecting decking materials from direct sun and rain. For Broadview, IL homeowners who want their deck to function as true outdoor living space, a cover changes what's possible year-round.
Why You Need It
A deck roof added without proper structural support, sized for local snow and wind loads, can put stress on both the roof structure and the deck framing beneath it. Poor flashing where the roof meets the house is also a common source of water intrusion into the home itself, making this a project where structural and weatherproofing details matter as much as appearance.
Our Process
Structural Load Assessment
We assess whether existing deck framing can support a roof structure or needs reinforcement first.
Roof Design
You'll choose a roof style, attached or freestanding, that fits your home's architecture and how you'll use the space.
Structural Construction
Support posts, beams, and roof framing are built to handle local load requirements.
Roofing and Flashing
Roofing material is installed with careful flashing at the house connection to prevent water intrusion.
What to Expect
Covered deck projects start with a structural assessment, since adding a roof is a significant load addition to consider carefully. Design comes next, choosing a roof style that fits your home. Construction follows, with particular attention to flashing where the roof meets your house. The result is a deck that stays usable through more of the Broadview, IL calendar, protected from sun and rain alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, covered decks are a common place to add ceiling fans and lighting, which we can incorporate into the design and wiring plan during construction.
